F.A.Q.
These are some of the questions I've been asked a lot [hence, frequently asked questions]. If you have a question that's not answered here, please feel free to contact me [form or email]!
Will you join my button rotation?
Absolutely! Button rotations are my weakness, haha.
I'm hosting a contest, will you join?
I'll try. I'm a full-time college student [so I really have no business in the webdesign world ; )], so sometimes I can't because of classes. Also, I might not join because I can't come up with a good idea as an entry. Sorry. Maybe another time.
Can we be link exchanges?
Sure! You'll be able to find your link in my link exchange section in the future.
Can we be affiliates?
Maybe. I'll look at your site against my requirements, and if you meet them, sure. If you don't meet them...well, I'll email you and let you know which ones you don't meet.
Can we be siblings?
Sorry, I don't "do" sibling sites. You can always apply for affiliation, though.
What do you use to make your site?
I make all my graphics in Adobe Photoshop 7, and yes, I'm aware it's outdated. I love it anyway. If I make anything animated, I put the animation together in Jasc Animation Shop 3 [this is probably also old, but I don't mind]. Normally I code exclusively in Notepad, which is why my HTML is rarely valid. But, if validity is going to be an issue, I have a copy of Dreamweaver [which I know is ancient and also is an "educational" version].
How did you learn HTML and CSS?
A lot of my HTML knowledge started by taking a peek at others' coding because I didn't know about tutorials. My early CSS knowledge came the same way. Then in the fall of 2007 I took my first webdesign class and learned more HTML and CSS, which brought me roughly to where I am today.
Can you teach me how to...?
If I know how to do it, sure. I'll email you with detailed instructions. If I don't know how, I'll help you find tutorials.
Can you make me...?
I'd be happy to, as long as you provide me with an image and any other specifications [for example, tell me your screen resolution when requesting a wallpaper].
What's wrong with your tagboard?
As far as I know, nothing. However, if you don't have JavaScript running on your computer, the tagboard won't work [I'm assuming. I always have JavaScript on, so the tagboard always shows up]. I know that for some reason it rarely loads with the messages, so just hit the 'R' button to refresh and everything will be fine. If you mean why are there double posts, I think it also has something to do with JavaScript, but I'm not sure. So, if you want to post something and it doesn't show up right away, hit 'R' [not 'Shout'!] and it should show up.
Where did you get...?
Check out my credits page for a list of places I find graphics to use at Kokunkokun. If I used a PNG that I extracted, though, you can find it in my PNG gallery.
Did you steal...from...?
No way. That's very not cool. I don't steal. If you found something on another site that's exactly like mine, they got it from me. However, there are some sites out there that inspire me and sometimes I mimic them, but I'm very careful to make it clear my work is mine and not theirs.
Do you have AIM/MSN messneger/Yahoo messenger?
I have AIM [nevrknowsbestx, from FLCL] and that's all, sorry. I'm almost always on AIM and used to have MSN, but I was never inclined to download Yahoo messenger. So, if you have AIM, feel free to i.m. me, even if I have an away message up. Otherwise, stick with my email: kokunkokun@gmail.com.
How long does it take you to answer emails?
I check my email multiple times every day at school. During the summer my internet access is limited and I work all the time, so I'll check my email and sign into AIM about once a week. So usually, as soon as I read your email I'll write you back. If you use the contact form and don't hear back from me, you either forgot your email or misspelled it.
Can I be a staff?
Umm...a staff is essentially a big stick, so I'm gonna say no. If you meant, "Can I be on your staff?" or "Can I be a staff member?" I'm still going to say no. I used to have a staff on my one of my old sites, but because there were so many of us, we had a lot of problems with security [not that my staff was untrustworthy, but because the password was shared among so many computers, other people got into the site and made a mess of things]. These days, I maintain my sites alone.
Can I send you my stuff?
You mean avatars or PNGs or layouts? Sure! You'll get full credit for whatever you donate, and layouts go in a separate "Donated Layouts" section.
You used something from my site. Why didn't you link me?
Oh no! I'm really sorry. A lot of times I'll lose the name or URL of where I got something, especially Photoshop brushes. So, if it's yours [or you just know where it came from], please send me the site name and URL so I can update my Credits page immediately!
